What develops a metaphor is the comparing of two things , sorta like simile but your not using like or as. and i how i feel about poetry  is i love it and i love the way figurative language is used into poetry and how it can bring that poem to life and how it can really make you understand the poem and help you as a reader draw into the poem and the poetry.

song lyric with a metaphor

The song i choose was once again y favorite song to use was never lose your flame by "Issues" and the metaphor is Well eat my dust that's all I am a speck out in the crowd.
here he is comparing himself to a speck out in the crowd, basically saying go ahead and kiss my ass and that im different and im not really that important and im find with that. i think  the whole thing  is  so deep and have  a lot of images you can picture and figurative languages.

colleague post

A great example of imagery would be to use one of my favorite song. It's called "Can I Live" by Jay-Z and in the song he says, "It gets tedious, So I keep one eye open like CBS, You see me stressed right?" Keeping one eye open like the CBS logo, not trusting always watching is the meaning of this stanza and it says a lot about how artist put meaning into their songs making us think what does that mean

This was said by Willis, Tiffany and i totally agree with her on this one, artist do use a lot of imagery and or images in their music and or work, and to me thats what make their words and their songs have so much life, and talent.  even the lyrics are a good example and they are good. so i think that was a very good example for this particular topic.

Images can be described kind of like a mixture of theme and symbolism. The reason i said that is because imagery is usually used as an representation or an extension of something or someone but also has a meaning to it. My symbol is a ram it is usually symbolized a strong head and hard headed and is usually look at for leadership.

this was said by Greg and that is another perfect one example i like and can relate too. and i like how he used his zodiac sign or birth sign which is the Aries to do that, thats like me using my sign the Capricorn or the goat which stands for  stubbornness hard worked and so yeah images and imagery can be in anything and be used for anything to bring more projects to life or just to help make things more clearer.

why images can mean so many things

No one knows why images mean so many things, but they do and that is really cool. They can say a lot an mean so much, like the lyrics i like form the song ''never lose your flame." The title itself you can use it as a image. picturing some one holding a flame close to their hands and to their heart. this song has a lot of imagery used and they mean so many things. i think its good imagery means so many things it helps us understand and relate and not every one will see everything differently or the same.

colleague poems

is Hello by Adele. In the song she says"Hello, can you hear me" to me she is crying out to her old lover. Theme of the song discuss themes of nostalgia and regret.
that was Tiffany Willis

to me i really dont like that song, i got a annoying vibe, from it. but as i read what she said it brings a much deeper meaning to the song, and maybe i would like it a little bit more. just a little bit.

"A Dream Within a Dream" is all about being alone. The speaker says goodbye to a woman in the first stanza, and spends the second isolated on a beach as he contemplates one of life's biggest questions: is what we see real? It sure sounds like this is something every person must deal with on their own time, by themselves, not in the company of other people. This may be because the answer to the riddle of reality requires some quiet time, or is just different for everybody. Plus, think about it: dreaming is something we do solo, so if life really is a dream within a dream, well, then were all alone for all of it.

Malik Toomer

i like that poem, and what it stands for. its really powerful and makes since. it also makes you think sometimes like are you in a dream or is it reality, and it just made me think. and yes some times we do need to be alone.

the theme of my favorite song lyric

The theme of my favorite song lyric is  Never Lose Your Fame is basically, Saying dont lose who you are and dont give up on yourself.  People will try to change you and wont accept you for who you are, it could be people who you know ever since you were little or even your parents and you have to accept that. also it means you need to love yourself, before anyone else that except you . You have to except yourself and your flaws, and Never Lose Yourself or your Flame.

Theme of your life

My theme of my life so far has been ups and downs, loops and turns,  like a big giant roller coaster  but with the years as time goes by I grew up and learned not to make the same mistakes and forgive and forget, and to except the people that have dropped out of my life and to welcome the people that I know will stay and help me. My theme for my life is a roller coaster,  and to be honest I like it, and i like i have so many trials and bumps and yet some  good things, because that going to be your life in general and you might as well deal with it now so you know then later, so you can handle everything and anything.

theme for my favorite movie

Theme : my favorite movie was lion king, the theme for it was a young male cub who was ready to be king, and very naive and young and thought being king meant he just could do what ever he want and it was more to that and also he wanted to have and he really looked up to his dad and even his uncle scar at one point and that changed showing us that family sometimes family can betray you and you will sometimes lose the most important people to you due to family or a reason, but you make them proud and you be yourself and you learn to forgive and  grow to be mature.

I wear a cross around my neck everyday because it symbolizes Jesus and my great-grandmother gave it too me before she died it remains me she's in a better place now!  thats what Malik Toomer, said and i find that really good and interesting.its always nice to see a young man or women still believing in the faith very strongly ,and the fact he carries that to remind him of his great grandmother is even more touching and it shows what the smallest things can mean, they can mean so much and have a bigger reason.

wear a cap or band almost every day and I'm not sure why I just like it. I feel like my cap symbolize a shield from the  outer world
Tiffany Willis
t]that was the first thing and line i noticed for my friend , and that line was very deep and honest. because all this time i never known why she would wear a hat, and that surely wasn't the reason that i was thinking.but i totally understand where she coming from, because for me i wear my headphones alot to drown out the sound and the people when they want to act stupid, and also i just love music.

Something that i carry, really wear is my birthstone ring. it was given to me by my mom as a birthday present. it was honestly one of my favorite birthday present given to me, i had fun at all the concerts she planned for me and the cakes. but this ring symbolizes the most to me. It shows how much she love me , and the fact i have had this ring for 19 years now, it keeps me going and when i lose it i feel like im losing my mom and everything i am, not to mention that my birthstone for December is in the in the ring, and my favorite color blue. i also notice over the years the ring is dirty and getting older through all of it, and just like the ring i have been through some rough stuff. so that is what my ring symbolizes too me.

people responce

" I think Ms. May-Lee Chai was like any other ordinary girl being born in china and raised in America story writing was her outlet into her own world. From personal experience from being a teenager everyone needs there outlet. and sometimes that outlet can eventually become a career. Her being a only child"

that's what Greg said about setting and how he felt about the story, it was really good and he explained how he felt.  it showed he read the story and understood it and could relate to her in some way

."A Soldier's Home" Is based around the setting of the story, which makes the story that much interesting. If you don't understand what the setting was in the story, then the story makes no sense to you. The way the author wrote the story, about a solider who returned back to his hometown from WWI in France and Germany. The main character went back to his home setting in Kansas city, Oklahoma, which to where he referred to it as a "small town". The whole setting of the story sets the plot of the story of how the character Krebs is having a conflict within himself adjusting to going back home, after the war is over. The setting plays a significant role thats what Caul-Leonard, Alexia
reading what she said it was good and i understood everything, she brings out some good points that leave you thinking. having a setting is really important and good and always good to have. i feel like it can tell much about the character or that person in some way.

response to colleagues

I read Tiffany Willis post about a Rose for Emily and she said likes to take about morals of the South and how they effect life as an individual. Him growing up in Mississippi and that state being known for their very traditional southern ways he could tie his personal attributions that had a role in the short story "A Rose for Emily". The story dealt with a young girl who isolated form the world by her father because he doesn't want her to have an significant other. In the south it was frowned upon to have significant others or an close male  friend at an young age     which i thought was very deep and interesting , she went more detail with it a lot of other people just stated the surface, but with her she went a little deeper showing that she clearly understood the story.

and another story or poem i looked at was

SadieSae

And it was on he heroine of Gail Godwin's short story "A Sorrowful Woman" seems inexplicable. Apparently healthy, married to a "durable, receptive, gentle" husband, and mother of a three-year-old son, she seems to have no aspirations beyond the roles of wife and mother she more than competently fulfills. and as i read what she wrote it seemed very good and interesting, since being i never heard of this story or read it. she had good diction and explained what she was saying it makes her reader draw you in and some one who can do that is a good thing.

it probably brings back some of his child hood memories that he use to, watch maybe as a kid he would watch a lot of Tarzan. or like young little boys he looked up to him dressed up as Tarzan, and maybe he had a huge impact in his life.  maybe that was something his parents introduce him too as a kid. or even something that he could looked growing up as a teen and or a adult in college.

ive learned that different stories can be remastered and redid  numerous times and yet still be really good, i learned that Tarzan was more of a bigger representation, then we were taught. I really like reading Tarzan or even watching it, and yet i learn something new no matter which type i read or watch.  that what i really learned from my story.

theme

The theme for The Fall of the House of Usher” to me is scary and has a Gothic feeling to it, it leaves you in   haunting confused feeling. with a lot of suspensions but toward the end i figured out what was going to happen, it makes you think about the type of disease one can have and the things it can make you do, and make you believe, some do say a house can actually feel or be one with the owner in some ways, what poe says and how he writes is deep and always leave you not really asking, but wondering the world around us.

something that i carry that represents me that is on me, is really everything that has been given to me, like my rings. one of them was given to me for my birthday and its my birthstone which is blue topaz for December and that symbolize not only my bday, but how calm and chill i am like the color blue, my other ring which is my class ring has my birthstone and my sign which is a Capricorn and that i was in drama. im true to my sign and im really good at acting, but not towards people. and everything else i wear says the same thing. that why i tend to freak out if i lose it or get protective over it, because people close to me have put a lot of money in it and or got it for me. and im not the type of person who likes to be given things to show love or stuff like that so when i do get something i treasure it deeply.

what my class mates learned

I learn that keeping people under ones thumb is not a good idea. What I mean by this is that Emily's father irretrievably damaged Emily emotionally by preventing her from having suitors as other young women her age did. She denied a very important part of being a young women. She suffered from abandonment fear after her fathers death because he was the only male figure in her life Malik Toomer
and I totally agree with that, and to me the same thing could of happened to a male if you switched the roles as well. you should never try to control anyone or abuse them in anyway. it could come back to you and in a ugly way. Emily was a disturbed child but alone and lost.

what i learned

What i learned about the story  was that Emily really didn't know what to do with herself, she was treated right by her father, and with no mother she was lost and alone, and not to mention that her lover was about to leave her. did she have to kill him, to me no.i also noticed her doing that went against her whole tradition and who she is as a lady, So reading this shows what as ladies we shouldn't hurt the ones we love, no matter how much they hurt us?

poem caged bird

The poem I choose for my wiki article is Caged Bird by Maya Angelou, i choose this poem because its powerful to me and one i did for a contest, and i haven't done them in a long time. so it was interesting for me to choose the hardest one to start off with, but that one really speak to me and I could feel and understood what she was saying every time I would reread it, and as I go back to all of the ones I did I spent  most of my  time on this one, I don't know why. maybe because i really liked it and felt the passion and or maybe because I needed the practice? or to get on my moms nerves because she told me she heard it so much . I really have no clue, but I liked this poem a lot and proud to work with it again.

favorite movie

My favorite movie is the Lion king, it not only shows about the importance of  family, but at the same time of how can family can betray you. it also shows that not every one is perfect and sometimes you gotta find yourself in the world and grow up a little bit, and not everything will be handed to you in life. with a wonderful cast and good music it leaves you feeling in a good mood, and teaches you so young , but its  not really shoving it down your throats it teaching you in ways our young minds could under stand back then. i will always love this movie and the lessons i learned.
